This one is purely for bragging rights.
Earlier this year I was approached by the owner of the new Hotel in town, Grand Suites Lake Tekapo, to see if I had any high resolution images of the night sky, large enough to print at 7.5 × 3.6 meters for the reception wall.
My initial answer was “not yet”, so I created one!🤩🤯
The image is a tracked, stacked and stitched panorama, consisting of 62 panels of 5 stacked images.
That’s 310 individual 30 second exposures, each with a resolution of 42 Megapixels.
It was shot during the course of a single night, with the camera (Sony A7Rii & 85mm f1.8) on a robotic pano head, and the pano head mounted to an equatorial tacking mount.
Sound complicated enough?
My PC also crashed multiple times during post production.😵💫
Nevertheless, seeing this badboy in it’s new home @grandsuitestekapo yesterday was a real buzz.
This is the largest any of my images have been printed by a long shot!
