Well, it’s been a while since I posted anything, so here it is…
This one has been sitting in the archives waiting for some love since last year.
This is a panoramic image, captured during a very chilly overnight camping trip up on the Mount Cook range @kate_indigog & @ad____
It looks across the cloud-filled Tasman & Murchison valleys toward the Malte Brun range, with the inner band of the Milky Way rising in the north over the Southern Alps.
The moon had just risen above the horizon to the right.
The panorama consists of 3 rows of 5 images across (15 in total), merged into one widefield scene. These were all captured at a 24mm focal length.
The sky component was captured using the help of a star-tracker to enable longer, brighter exposures without stars becoming elongated due to the earth’s rotation.
Gear & settings:
Sony A7iii (unmodified)
Samyang 24mm F/1.8 AF prime lens.
Move-Shoot-Move Nomad star tracker
SIRUI AM-225 Carbon Tripod
EXIF: 30sec, F/3.5 ISO 6400.
Stitched in PTGUI.
Developed in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop.
Enjoy!😊
